Payment rules
All plans
Hide a payment method at checkout, like cash on delivery, or show it under a clearer name.
How it works
Pick a payment method from the list, or type its name exactly as buyers see it at checkout. Choose to hide or rename it. Preview the rule in a real checkout, then set it to Active.
Good for
- Hiding cash on delivery
- Explaining a method in its name: “Bank Deposit” becomes “Bank transfer (ships once paid)”
- Hiding a payment method you're phasing out
Where it shows

Nothing to place. A rule works as soon as it's active. While it's a draft or paused, checkout doesn't change.
Good to know
- Shopify doesn't tell apps which payment methods a store has, so the rule matches by name. Case doesn't matter, but the words must match. Always preview before setting a rule live.
- Methods shown as a logo, like Klarna, PayPal or Amazon Pay, can be hidden but not renamed. Shop Pay can't be renamed either.
- The app adds Checkout Master payment rules under Settings › Payments › Payment customizations in Shopify. Leave it on: turning it off there stops every payment rule.
- Rules apply to every checkout for now.
